Corridors of Commerce

Fostering economic growth with transportation investments

Program history

In 2013, the initial funding for the program was from $300 million in trunk highway bonds, which MnDOT supplemented with funds from other state and federal sources. In the 2014 legislative session, the Legislature provided trunk highway funds totaling $31.5 million for FY 2014 and FY 2015. The program did not receive funding as part of the 2016-2017 transportation budget, so there was not a 2016 solicitation and project selection round. During the 2017 legislative session, additional funding was provided to the program. A total of $300 million in trunk highway bonds and $25 million in cash/year was added for Corridors of Commerce which resulted in a total of $425 M of funding available from 2017.  In the 2018 Special Legislative Session, another $400 M of bonds was added to program, but the funding required MnDOT to use the 2017 solicitation and project selection scores to award the funding.

In 2021, the legislature again provided $200 M in trunk highway bonds.  MnDOT is assuming that the $25M in cash will also continue into the future, therefore MnDOT is anticipating $250 M being available for its next project selection round.  A is found in the table below.
