Road closures

Through mid-September

• SB Hiawatha Ave. is closed between Downtown Minneapolis and Cedar Ave.
• Detour: WB I-94 to SB I-35W to EB Hwy 62 (PNG)

June through September

• Watch for temporary, short-term closures of Franklin Ave. near Hiawatha Ave. Please follow the posted detour routes during this time.
• Watch for temporary, short-term intersection closures within the project area. Please follow the posted detour routes during this time.

Bridge closures

Through mid-September

• The bridge from downtown Minneapolis (8th St.) to SB Hiawatha Ave. is closed
• Detour: Park Ave. to 4th St. to SB I-94 to SB I-35W to EB Hwy 62 to Hiawatha Ave. (PNG)

Through late September

• The bridge from NB Hiawatha Ave. into downtown (7th St.) is closed
  • Detour: NB Hiawatha Ave. to 3rd St. to Portland Ave. to 7th St. (PNG)

Lane closures

Through late August

• The following intersections have traffic restrictions:
• Hiawatha Ave. and Cedar Ave.
• Hiawatha Ave. and 22nd St.
• Hiawatha Ave. and 26th St.
• Hiawatha Ave. and 28th St.
• Hiawatha Ave. and 32nd St.

Through August

• Hiawatha Ave. is reduced to one lane in both directions between 26th St. and 32nd St. Motorists should expect significant delays in the area.
  • Note: When NB Hiawatha Ave. between 32nd St. and 26th St. reopens on Sun, Aug. 7, it will be reduced to one lane of traffic through August.

Ramp closures

Through mid-September

• The ramp from EB I-94 to SB Hiawatha Ave. is closed
• Detour: EB I-94 to 26th St. to Franklin Ave. to Bloomington Ave. to 24th St. to Cedar Ave. to Hiawatha Ave. (PNG)
• The ramp from SB I-35W to SB Hiawatha Ave. is closed
• Detour: WB I-94 to SB I-35W to EB Hwy 62 (PNG)

Utility work

Centerpoint Energy and Xcel Energy will be working on Hiawatha Ave. between 35th St. and 46th St. This work will require temporary, short-term lane closures in both directions of Hiawatha Ave.

About this project

Crews will resurface Hwy 55/Hiawatha Ave. between I-35W and Hwy 62 and repair bridges from Hiawatha Ave. to 7th St., from 8th St. to Hiawatha Ave. and on SB Hiawatha Ave. over Franklin Ave.
