Lane closures

Through 10 p.m. Fri, Aug. 15

• I-94 is reduced to two lanes in both directions between 11th Ave. South and Franklin Ave. Southeast
• Westbound Hwy 55 ramp to South 7th St. is reduced to one lane

Ramp closures

9 p.m. Fri, June 13 through 5 a.m. Mon, Aug. 18

• The following ramps are closed:
  • Northbound I-35W ramp to eastbound I-94
    • Detour: Northbound I-35W to eastbound Hwy 36, southbound I-35E and eastbound I-94 (PNG)
  • Eastbound I-94 ramp to Huron Blvd.
    • Detour: Cretin Ave., westbound I-94 and Huron Blvd. (PNG)
  • South 6th St. ramp to eastbound I-94
  • Riverside Ave. ramp to eastbound I-94
  • Cedar Ave. ramp to eastbound I-94

Through 5 a.m. Wed, Aug. 20

• Huron Blvd. ramp to eastbound I-94
  • Detour: Eastbound University Ave. Southeast, southbound North Eustis St., eastbound Franklin Ave. and eastbound I-94 (PNG)

Upcoming

Information about upcoming traffic impacts will be posted as details become available. Motorists can expect lane and ramp closures during construction. Motorists should be aware that some nearby construction projects will have overlapping traffic impacts with the I-94 Minneapolis work. All lanes on I-94 between 11th Ave. South and Franklin Ave. Southeast are expected to reopen to traffic for the Minnesota State Fair from mid-August through Labor Day. Work will resume after Labor Day to complete the removal of crossovers and other items such as signage and lighting.

• I-94 is closed in both directions between I-35W and Hwy 280

About this project

We will be doing maintenance and repair work on five bridges along I-94 in Minneapolis. These bridges include:

• I-94 bridge (Dartmouth Bridge) that spans the Mississippi River
• Riverside Ave. bridge over I-94
• I-94 over Cedar Ave.
• I-94 over the Light Rail Transit (Blue Line)
• I-94 over Hwy 55/Hiawatha Ave.

• Construct temporary crossovers
• Repair bridge decks
• Resurface bridge pavement
• Remove and replace bridge joints
• Update guardrails
• Upgrade drainage
• Repaint bridge steel
