MnDOT invites public to outdoor pop-up event in Wahkon Aug. 25
BAXTER, Minn. — MnDOT invites those interested in the Highway 27 (Main Street) trial demonstration set-up in Wahkon to stop in and visit with us at an outdoor ‘pop-up’ event between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25.
The pop-up event will be held on the lawn along Highway 27 at the corner of Second Street, next to Wahkon City Hall. Project staff can answer questions about the current demonstration project and show you some possible project layouts.
MnDOT has future plans to reconstruct and improve Highway 27 through Wahkon, which includes sidewalk, curb and gutter and storm sewer.
The demonstration project has been set in place since June with use of temporary tape and traffic control devices. Bump-outs and road narrowing is currently set-up at the Highway 27 (Main Street) intersections of First Street, Second Street and Third Street. A bike lane is marked along both sides of Highway 27 between the curb and the on-street parking lane. The community can take an online survey through early fall: Complete a survey for the Wahkon demonstration project.
Community feedback is welcomed and will provide MnDOT with valuable insight in planning future projects. Learn more, visit mndot.gov/saferoutes/demonstration-current-projects.html or contact MnDOT Project Manager
