MnDOT to conduct soil borings on Hwy 28 between Cyrus and Starbuck for future project
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Starting Monday, Sept. 27, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will begin conducting soil borings along Highway 28 between Cyrus and Starbuck. The work is expected to take approximately five days to complete, weather permitting, and will take place within public right of way. Motorists can expect to encounter shoulder closures in the areas where crews are working, as well as short-term sidewalk and parking lane closures in the cities of Cyrus and Starbuck.
The driving lanes on Highway 28 are not expected to be impacted, but motorists should travel with caution, slow down in the work zone and watch for workers along the shoulder.
This required work is part of the project development process for the 2025 reconstruction project on Highway 28 between Morris and Starbuck. Crews will be collecting bore samples to test soil conditions for future road construction.
