Westbound I-94 weekend closure in St. Paul begins Friday evening, Oct. 8
The same section of westbound I-94 will close again Oct. 15-18
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists traveling on westbound Interstate 94 will encounter a full closure in St. Paul starting Friday, Oct. 8 (weather permitting).
Beginning at 10 p.m., Friday, Oct. 8 westbound I-94 will close between Wabasha Street and Marion Street for pavement repairs. All westbound I-94 lanes are expected to reopen by 5 a.m., Monday, Oct. 11.
On Friday, Oct. 15 westbound I-94 will close again between Wabasha Street and Marion Street at 10 p.m. and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, Oct 18.
For both weekend closures, motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour of I-35E, Highway 36 and Highway 280. All traffic impacts are tentative and weather dependent.
These closures are part of a larger project on I-94 and I-35E to repair and resurface the road and upgrade pedestrian/bicycle accessibility standards on I-94 between Western Ave. and Mounds Blvd. and on I-35E between I-94 north and University Ave. in St. Paul. Once the work is complete in fall 2022, motorists will enjoy a smoother, longer-lasting road surface, improve safety and mobility along the corridor and upgrade pedestrian/bicycle accessibility.
