Southbound I-35W in Minneapolis closing May 6-9

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorist traveling on southbound Interstate 35W between Interstate 94 and Highway 62/Crosstown in Minneapolis will encounter a weekend closure beginning Friday, May 6.

Weather permitting, the southbound interstate will be closed and detoured between I-94 and 46th Street beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, May 6. During the closure, crews will repair concrete pavement on southbound I-35W. Motorists should follow the signed detour using westbound I-94, westbound I-394, southbound Highway 100 and eastbound Highway 62 to bypass the closure

The following ramps also will be closed beginning at 9 p.m.:

  • I-35W SB ramps from Washington Avenue and East 4th Street
  • Highway 65 (Downtown Minneapolis) ramp to southbound I-35W
  • I-94 to southbound I-35W
  • 31st Street to southbound I-35W
  • 36th Street to southbound I-35W

All lanes and ramps are scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, May 9.

When possible, motorists should avoid cutting through neighborhoods and help keep the community safe by using posted detour routes.
