Highway 36 weekend closures in Little Canada and Maplewood begin May 6
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists will encounter directional road closures on Highway 36 over the next two consecutive weekends in Little Canada and Maplewood as crew begin resurfacing the roadway.
Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, May 6, eastbound Highway 36 between Edgerton Street in Little Canada and Highway 61 in Maplewood will close. During the closure, traffic will be directed to follow the posted detour of northbound Interstate 35E to eastbound I-694. This section of eastbound Highway 36 is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, May 9.
Then, the following weekend, beginning at 9 p.m., Friday, May 13, westbound Highway 36 will close between I-35E and Highway 61. Motorists will be detoured to westbound I-694 and southbound I-35E. This section of eastbound Highway 36 is expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, May 16.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather permitting and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, and slow down in work zones where workers are present.
MnDOT is resurfacing the pavement, improving drainage and pedestrian accessibility in some locations along the Highway 36 project area. Once complete, the 12-miles of Highway 36 between Little Canada and Stillwater will have new pavement and better ride quality, upgraded drainage, improved traffic signals and updated pedestrian accessibility.
