Open house for Hwy 4 resurfacing project is May 17
WILLMAR, Minn. – The public is invited to an in-person construction open house on Tuesday, May 17 to learn about the upcoming Highway 4 resurfacing project. The open house will be held at Cosmos City Center, 220 Milky Way Street South, and run from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. There will not be a formal presentation and people are invited to stop by anytime during open house hours.
MnDOT staff and the contractor will be available to answer questions about the construction phase of the Hwy 4 project, including the detour and timeline.
The project includes asphalt resurfacing for approximately nine miles of Hwy 4 from the north side of Cosmos to south of Meeker County Road 23.
Through traffic for Hwy 4 will be detoured during construction. The detour uses Hwy 7, Kandiyohi County Road 2, and Hwy 12. A detour and work zone map is attached.
Project benefits and cost
Project benefits include a smoother road surface. Duininck, Inc., is the contractor for the project, which will cost $4.5 million. Construction is scheduled to begin May 23 and end in late July. The schedule could change due to weather and other unforeseeable circumstances.
