Additional lane restrictions, ramp closures begin tonight on I-94 & I-35E concrete pavement repair project in St. Paul
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – As the second and final year of construction on the I-94 & I-35E project in St. Paul ramps up, motorists will find additional lane restrictions and ramp closures on Interstate 94 and I-35E in St. Paul. Beginning at 9 p.m. tonight, MnDOT will close the following ramps:
- Eastbound I-94 to East 7th Street.
- Northbound I-35E to EB I-94 slip ramp
- Jackson St. to NB I-35E
- Jackson St. to EB I-94
There also will be additional lane restrictions on both I-94 and I-35E and in the two interstates common area. Drivers are urged to slow down through the work zone, watch for workers along the highway and follow the posted detours. All detours are posted and a list of additional closures and detour routes is available on the project website listed below.
The first stage of this year’s construction through early July is focused on repairs and resurfacing on I-94 between Marion St. and I-35E along with work on I-35E between I-94 and University Avenue. The final stage of the project will be on I-94 between I-35E and Mounds Blvd. from mid-summer through the fall of 2022.
The construction schedule is subject to change. Updated information will be provided in email alerts and on the project website.
The two-year project to repair and resurface I-94 between Western Ave. and Mounds Blvd. and I-35E between I-94 and University Ave. in St. Paul began in the summer of 2021. Project work also includes resurfacing ramps and frontage roads along I-94, repairing drainage and upgrading storm sewers and bridge rehabilitation work as well as repairing sidewalks and upgrading pedestrian sidewalks and approaches to Americans with Disability Act (ADA) standards.
The project is expected to be completed in the fall 2022.
