Northbound Hwy 77 in Bloomington closing May 20-23
First southbound Hwy 77 weekend closure is scheduled for June 3-6
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists traveling northbound on Hwy 77 between the Minnesota River and Interstate 494 in Bloomington will encounter traffic restrictions beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 20. Then at 8 p.m. northbound Hwy 77 will fully close to traffic to allow the Minnesota Department of Transportation to resurface the pavement. The following ramps will also close at 8 p.m.:
- Eastbound I-494 to northbound Hwy 77
- E. Old Shakopee Road to northbound Hwy 77
Motorists should follow the posted detour using 24th Avenue S., 77th Street, Longfellow Avenue, E. 66th Street and northbound Hwy 77.
- Cliff Road to northbound Hwy 77
- Diffley Road to northbound Hwy 77
- Hwy 13 to northbound Hwy 77
Motorists should follow the posted detour using northbound I-35E, westbound I-494 and northbound Hwy 77.
All northbound Hwy 77 lanes and ramps are expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, May 23. Southbound Hwy 77 and all associated entrance and exit ramps within the area will remain open.
Beginning at 10 p.m. on Sunday, May 22, several ramps south of I-494 in Bloomington will be closed to traffic for pavement resurfacing, guardrail replacement and other improvements through 9 a.m. on Friday, May 27:
- Northbound Hwy 77 to Killebrew Dr.
- Northbound Hwy 77 to Lindau Ln.
Motorists should follow the posted detour using northbound Hwy 77, westbound I-494, southbound Hwy 77, eastbound I-494 and southbound 24th Ave. S.
- Northbound Hwy 77 to eastbound I-494
Motorists should follow the posted detour using northbound Hwy 77, westbound I-494, southbound Hwy 77 and eastbound I-494.
- Killebrew Drive and Lindau Lane to northbound Hwy 77
- Killebrew Drive and Lindau Lane to westbound I-494
- Killebrew Drive and Lindau Lane to eastbound I-494
Motorists should follow the posted detour using 24th Ave S. or find alternate routes.
Two consecutive weekend closures of southbound Hwy 77 between I-494 and the Minnesota River are scheduled for June 3-6 and June 10-13, weather and schedule permitting.
These road and ramp closures are part of the Hwy 77/Cedar Avenue construction project. MnDOT is resurfacing the Hwy 77 pavement between the Minnesota River in Bloomington and Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis through fall 2022. The work includes repairs to the 86th Street bridge over Hwy 77, upgrades at intersections to provide universal access and drainage improvements.
All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, and to slow down in work zones where workers are present.
