Public invited to provide feedback on Hwy 47 BNSF Railroad crossing design alternatives at May 25 public meeting
Roseville, Minn. – MnDOT invites area residents and businesses to attend an open house-style public meeting on Wednesday, May 25 for the Hwy 47 and BNSF Railroad Crossing project in Anoka. During the in-person meeting, the public will have an opportunity to provide input on alignment and intersection alternatives. Representatives from MnDOT and the project team will be available to answer questions. Materials will also be available online at the Hwy 47 BNSF Railroad project website and the public can submit comments through Monday, May 30.
The open house will be held at the Anoka-Hennepin Educational Service Center 2727 Ferry St., Anoka, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. There will not be a formal presentation and people are invited to stop by anytime during meeting hours.
“We are working to improve the Hwy 47 at BNSF Railroad crossing in Anoka,” said Mark Lindeberg, MnDOT project manager. “In 2016, MnDOT completed a study of safety issues at this crossing. The study recommended separating the Hwy and railroad crossing by constructing a bridge over the train tracks. In 2020 the state Legislature awarded bonding funds to make safety improvements. We look forward to hearing the public input on the alignment and intersection alternatives.”
