Highway 42 closure, detour at Kellogg expected to begin June 7 for Reduced Conflict Intersection installation
WABASHA, Minn. – Highway 42 detour expected to begin Tuesday, June 7 for the installation of the Reduced Conflict Intersection (RCI) at Highway 61, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The below traffic impacts will occur as crews install the RCI at Highway 42 and Highway 61. Work is scheduled to be complete the week of June 20, weather permitting.
- Traffic on Highway 61 wanting to access Highway 42 will go west on Wabasha County Road 18 then south on Wabasha County Road 4 to get onto Highway 42.
- Highway 42 traffic will go north on Wabasha County Road 4 then east on Wabasha County Road 18 to travel on Highway 61.
- Signs will be in place to direct motorists to Highway 42 businesses, such as SVJ Creative Designs and Cowpokes Western Shop.
This work is part of the project that is resurfacing 27 miles of southbound Highway 61 from Wabasha to Minnesota City, improving seven bridges, making enhancements in Weaver and installing an RCI at Highway 61 and Highway 42 near Kellogg. Work is expected to be complete at the end of October.
