Temporary intersection closure at old Hwy 14 and Steele County Road 2 begins June 9
CLAREMONT, Minn. – Motorists will encounter a temporary intersection closure at old Hwy 14 and Steele County Road 2 (formerly called Steele County Road 180) beginning June 9 as crews construct a new connection between the existing roads, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The closure is between Steele County Road 43 and SE 64th Avenue at the existing intersection of old Highway 14 (Steele County Road 2) and old Steele County Road 180/SE 54th Avenue. This is located on the north side of the railroad tracks and is scheduled to reopen mid to late July, weather permitting.
Detour signs will route traffic on Steele County Road 2 to use Steele County Road 71/Dodge County Road G between Steele County Road 43 and Dodge County Road 1. Truck traffic traveling to Al-Corn Clean Fuel in Claremont should stay on the new Hwy 14 and exit at the Dodge County Road 3 interchange and travel north to old Highway 14 to access Al-Corn Clean Fuel.
This work is part of the Hwy 14 expansion project between Dodge Center and Owatonna which opened to traffic in November 2021. Work to complete the project continues through this summer.
