Update: Bridge work on Hwy 200 postponed to start until next week
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — Due to a change in the contractor’s schedule, the bridge replacement at Twin Lakes Creek on Hwy 200 is now expected to start the week of June 13. Once the bridge is out, the roadway will be impassable at the bridge site to all traffic through August.
As a reminder, Hwy 200 is closed between Mahnomen and Roy Lake for road construction. Traffic is being detoured to Hwy 59, Hwy 113 and County Road 39.
During the bridge replacement, local traffic – Hwy 200 residents or others who have a destination within the work zone – will need to take the detour or find an alternate route around the bridge.
In addition to the bridge replacement, the project also includes shoulder widening, pavement repairs, culvert replacements, turn lanes, and other safety and pedestrian accessibility improvements. Local traffic can expect lane closures in the areas where crews are working and reduced speeds near Roy Lake. Throughout the duration of construction, driveway access is being maintained.
