Highway 10 one lane, each direction, as bridge work begins July 6
BAXTER, Minn. – Motorists who travel on Highway 10 through Benton County will encounter reduced speeds and one-lane traffic in each direction, 24/7, as bridge work begins Wednesday, July 6, 2022.
MnDOT will replace a box bridge under both directions of Highway 10 at a stream located three miles northwest of Sauk Rapids between the Benton County Road 33 interchange and 66th Street NE.
Here’s what to expect through September:
Bridge construct: July 6–late August
Crews will first close and replace the west side of the box bridge, then move on to close and replace the east side.
- Active work zone—one lane, each way (head-to-head), 24/7.
- Expect reduced speeds, lane shifts and sudden stops or delays at busy times.
- Motorists should plan accordingly, use alternate routes or travel at off-peak hours, especially on weekends.
Wrap-up work: September
Once the box bridge is constructed, crews will remove the temporary crossovers, establish turf along the shoulders and wrap-up the project.
- Expect periodic lane closures, lane shifts, reduced speeds and shoulder closures.
When complete, the $1.5 million project will reduce overall maintenance costs and improve drainage on Highway 10 northwest of Sauk Rapids.
