Roseville, Minn. – Starting at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, the Minnesota Department of Transportation will close the ramp from northbound Hiawatha Avenue to westbound I-94. Motorists will be detoured using Cedar Avenue, Franklin Avenue, 25th Street and Butler Place to access westbound I-94. The ramp is scheduled to reopen to traffic on Sunday, July 17. This ramp closure is needed for crews to begin preparing for paving work.

Motorists can also expect a full closure of southbound Hiawatha Avenue from Cedar Avenue to E 32nd St. on Tuesday, July 5, and this portion of roadway is scheduled to reopen to traffic on Monday, July 18.

Lastly, beginning at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, multiple intersections on Hiawatha Avenue will be closed to cross-traffic through Friday, July 15. Hiawatha Avenue and 26th St. and Hiawatha Avenue and 28th St. will be closed. Motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians should follow the posted detour routes during this time.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation also wants to reminder motorists that northbound Hiawatha Avenue is reduced to a single lane of traffic between Highway 62 and Cedar Avenue near downtown Minneapolis. Motorists should expect significant delays when traveling through this area.

All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, and slowdown in work zones where workers are present.
