Hwy 65 bridge construction moves to east side in Mora
Oversized loads not permitted in work zone
BAXTER, Minn. – Highway 65 (Highway 23) bridge construction over the Snake River in Mora has moved onto the newly-constructed west (southbound) side of the bridge while crews reconstruct the east (northbound) side.
While this marks the project’s halfway point to completion, please be advised that the lanes on Highway 65/23 remain narrow with no shoulders between Division Street and Frontage Road. A width limit of eight feet is in effect; oversized loads are not permitted in the entire work zone. In addition, pedestrians are NOT allowed on the bridge. Please seek alternate routes.
Drivers approaching the work zone should slow down and be prepared for changes and delays. Motorists will encounter reduced speeds, lane closures, lane shifts, and periodic stops. Use caution; watch for workers and equipment.
When complete in November, the project will provide a new, wider bridge, which includes a new multi-use trail along the west side from Frontage Road that connects to South Union Street. The project will also improve pedestrian crossing at Division Street and storm water drainage to the Snake River.
