Hwy 212 and Hwy 5 project begins June 12 in Eden Prairie
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – On June 12, motorists will encounter lane closures on Highway 212 and Highway 5 in Eden Prairie when crews begin a planned improvement project, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Starting Thursday, June 12, crews will work on erosion control, resulting in lane closures on Highway 212 and Highway 5 between Eden Prairie Road and Interstate 494.
Beginning Monday, June 16, crews will close the ramp from Mitchell Road to westbound Highway 5 until early July.
Then, beginning at 2 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, crews will resurface the road shoulders, resulting in more lane closures throughout the project area. The work will begin at I-494, in the westbound lanes of Highway 212 and Highway 5.
In late June or early July through September, motorists should look for more significant traffic impacts, while crews repair concrete pavement on Highway 212 and Highway 5 between Eden Prairie Road and I-494. Crews will primarily work on one direction (eastbound or westbound) at a time, leaving one lane open to traffic.
There will also be two weekend closures of Highway 5, between Eden Prairie Road and the Highway 212/Highway 5 split, with traffic detoured using Highway 41 and Highway 212, scheduled for 9 p.m. Friday, July 18 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 21, and from 9 p.m. Friday, July 25 to 5 a.m. Monday, July 28.
Local residences and businesses will remain accessible during construction. Expect delays and use alternate routes.

MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slow down in work zones where workers are present.
Throughout the project, crews will be repairing concrete, paving the shoulders, and updating existing guardrail on Highway 212 and Highway 5 between Eden Prairie Road and I-494 in Eden Prairie. The concrete on these roads is over 20 years old and needs repairs. The project will be completed in September 2025.
