Eastbound I-94 and northbound I-35E in St. Paul closed July 11 weekend

St. Paul, Minn. – This summer, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is repairing nine bridges over I-94 and I-35E in St. Paul. Portions of eastbound I-94 and northbound I-35E will be closed starting 10 p.m. Fri, July 11, through 5 a.m. Mon, July 14, as part of this work.

Eastbound I-94 will be closed between Hwy 280 and I-35E. Traffic will be directed from northbound Hwy 280 to Hwy 36 to southbound I-35E. View a detour map .

Additionally, northbound I-35E will be closed between Hwy 5 and I-94 for the same duration as the eastbound I-94 closure. Traffic will be directed from eastbound I-494 to northbound Hwy 52 to westbound I-94 back to northbound I-35E. View a detour map.

Starting Monday, July 28, the Marion St. bridge over I-94 will also be closed through late September. View a detour map.

All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule dependent and subject to change. MnDOT encourages people traveling in and around downtown St. Paul to plan ahead and review closures, especially for high-traffic summer events. MnDOT also urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution and slowdown in work zones where workers are present.

This project requires periodic weekend closures of I-94 and partial bridge closures throughout the summer to ensure proper maintenance of bridges along the interstates. For more information about this project work or to sign up for email updates, visit the project website.
