Weekend ramp and lane closures on I-494 in Inver Grove Heights begin Oct. 24 for steel girder painting

ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Starting at 9 a.m. through 2 p.m. Friday, October 24, the ramp from westbound Interstate 494 to southbound Highway 52 will be closed for steel girder painting over I-494 travel lanes, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

During this closure, motorists traveling in the area can use westbound I-494 to westbound Highway 62 to southbound Highway 3/Robert Street to eastbound Highway 62 to eastbound I-494 to southbound Highway 52.

Beginning at 7 p.m. through 10 p.m. Friday, October 24, crews will reduce westbound I-494 to two lanes from Concord Street to Highway 3/Robert Street. Then from 10 p.m. Friday, October 24 through 5 a.m. Monday, October 27, crews will reduce westbound I-494 to one lane. Motorists can use the westbound I-494 collector-distributor lane to travel through the area.

The following weekend, starting at 8 p.m. Friday, October 31 through 5 a.m. Monday, November 3, crews will close the westbound I-494 to southbound Hwy 52 ramp. Motorists can use westbound I-494 to westbound Hwy 62 to southbound Hwy 3/Robert St. to eastbound Hwy 62 to eastbound I-494 to southbound Hwy 52. At that time, the northbound Hwy 52 to westbound I-494 ramp will also close. Motorists can use northbound Hwy 52 to westbound Mendota Rd./Southview Blvd. to southbound Hwy 52 to westbound I-494.

All construction activities and traffic impacts are weather and schedule permitting and subject to change. MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, and slow down in work zones.
