Highway 95 detour in Cambridge begins May 5
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Starting Tuesday, May 5, Highway 95 in Cambridge, Isanti County, will close from west of Fern Street to east of Dellwood Street as the Minnesota Department of Transportation kicks off the first year of a two-year reconstruction project.
Motorists will be directed to use the following detour through late July: Download map from project webpage (PNG).
- Westbound Highway 95: Use Cypress Street S and Second Avenue SW
- Eastbound Highway 95: Use Second Avenue SW and Birch Street S
Highway 95 will remain open to those who live, work or visit those along the work zone; however, expect changes and use of alternate accesses. Hard closures will occur to replace underground storm sewer and utilities. Follow signs and enter/exit nearest to your destination to avoid delays.
To keep workers safe, follow these tips:
- Obey posted speed limits. The fine for speeding in a work zone is $300.
- Stay alert and avoid distractions.
- Move over and give crews space.
- Be patient and expect delays.
- Never enter a road closed with barriers or cones.
- Expect changing conditions, including lane shifts and equipment.
- Check 511mn.org or the free app for real-time travel information.
In late July, crews will move eastward, and Highway 95 will close from east of Dellwood Street to west of Main Street. Motorists will be detoured along Dellwood Street S, 11th Avenue SE and Garfield Street S.
When complete in fall 2027, travelers will benefit from a smoother, stronger highway; updated underground infrastructure and city utilities; and improved safety, access and traffic flow through Cambridge.
