Single lane traffic begins Wednesday, May 6, on Snelling Ave. in Arden Hills, Roseville
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – As repairs and resurfacing on Highway 51/Snelling Ave/Hamline Ave shift in to high gear next week, we’ll restrict the highway to a single lane in each directions between Ramsey County Road C in Roseville and Grey Fox Road in Arden Hills beginning early Wednesday morning, May 6. During the right (outside) lane closures, we will attempt to keep right turn lanes open most of the time, but we will have short-term turn lane closures when there is work nearby.
During the single lane traffic, please drive carefully through the work zone and watch for workers and construction vehicles along the roadway. The lane closures will be completed by Wednesday evening, May 20.
MnDOT is repairing and resurfacing Snelling Ave. between Hwy 36 in Roseville and Grey Fox Rd. in Arden Hills. This project will also add connectivity with a new trail section providing access between Lydia Ave. and Snelling Ave. North (County Road 76), upgrade signal systems and improve accessibility at pedestrian ramps. This work is necessary to maintain the highway system and to provide a smoother road surface and extend pavement life, reduce congestion, improve traffic flow and accessibility and improve safety along the road.
Motorists can expect lane, road and intersection closures during construction.
Work on the highway will be completed by late August, before the start of the Minnesota State Fair. Additional work on the signal systems and crossing upgrades will begin after Labor Day and be completed by early October.
