Hwy 59, 108 - Pelican Rapids Complete Streets Project

Current traffic impacts

• Stage 2C underway: Highway 59 reduced to one lane between 7th Avenue NE to just beyond County Road 9.
  • Automated traffic signals setup on each side of work zone to direct traffic one lane at a time. Be prepared to stop.Your patience is important!
  • Tentatively starting Sept. 11, the intersection of County Road 9 and Highway 59 will close to all traffic. Use detour on Highway 34 to enter from the north on County Road 9 or find alternate route.
• Stage 4A-C underway: Highway 108 east closed between 2 1/2 Street and Anne Lane.
  • Use in-town detour at Anne Lane and 2nd Avenue SE.
  • Business access: For businesses on the north side of the road, use 2 1/2 Street to cross the work zone. Access may vary as crews move through each intersection. Travel with care.
• Stage 3A-B underway: Highway 108 west closed between Highway 59 and 3rd Street NW.
  • Use in-town detour at 2nd Avenue NW and 3rd Street NW. Obey automated signal at 3rd Street NW for one-way in both directions: stop and wait for green light before proceeding.
• Trucks and other thru-traffic: Truck/thru-traffic routes

Construction schedule

Construction will be completed in phases, starting in April 2024 through Fall 2025. All work and schedules are weather dependent.

Current stages and work:

• Stage 2C: Hwy 59, 7th Ave NE to north of CR 9
• Stage 4A-C: Hwy 108 east, 2 1/2 Street to Anne Lane
• Stage 3A-B: Hwy 108 west, Hwy 59 to 3rd Street NW
